Chairperson - Alice Nunn

Alice’s involvement in horses has been from childhood and she currently competes up to 3* level in Endurance on the Arabians bred by her family. Her personal equine interests also include thoroughbred and harness racing disciplines.

Alice is a Lawyer at Norris Ward McKinnon and is based in their Hamilton offices where her personal interest in equine has led to professional development in the area.  Alice is a member of a specialist Equine Law Team that was formed by Norris Ward McKinnon in 2012. The team provides the firms Equine Clientele with advice specific to the equine industry.




Vice Chairperson & Secretary - Chelsey Hawthorn

Chelsey is heavily involved in the Equine industry through her sport of Eventing where she has ridden to 3* level and represented New Zealand, as well as having interests in the racing industry. Chelsey studied at Waikato University, completing a Bachelor of Management majoring in Finance and Human Resources. Through her studies Chelsey was awarded both the Prime Ministers and Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarships.

Professionally, Chelsey is in Banking and focuses on commercial business in Hamilton and the greater Waikato region. She is passionate about business generation, providing innovative solutions and timely delivery of these solutions. Chelsey has a particular interest in working with businesses that are involved in equine industries.




Treasurer - Briar Carr

Briar is an accountant.  She has worked in the equine industry in a number of different roles from preparing yearlings to training racehorses.  She has worked for major stud farms in Australia and New Zealand, and completed the National Stud Diploma, England. 

This in-depth knowledge has been very beneficial in servicing her horse clientele.  Briar has provided business and taxation advice across rural and commercial industries. Briar's expertise is in advising clients in accounting and general taxation, succession planning, rural taxation and bloodstock.
